A string of character turns - a hustler in Oliver Stone's "JFK," a rigid military prosecutor in Rob Reiner's " A Few Good Men" and a cold-blooded bank robber in Curtis Hanson's "The River Wild" revealed Bacon's versatility, which he later parlayed into critically acclaimed features like " Apollo 13," "Sleepers," and Clint Eastwood's " Mystic River." Bacon's near-ubiquitous presence on screen may have given rise to the " Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game, but it also proved that he was a talented and capable performer.īacon remains busy as ever in his fourth decade on-screen: he gained an Emmy nomination and Golden Globe as a Marine who escorts a fallen soldier's remains home in "Taking Chance," and drew critical praise for starring turns in the episodic series "Following," "I Love Dick" (which earned a Golden Globe nod) and "City on a Hill." He's also still busy in features, including " X-Men: First Class," "Patriots Day," and "You Should Have Left," and also enjoys a long-running music career as one-half of the Bacon Brothers with his sibling, Michael. Playing the hero in films like "Quicksilver" and "She's Having a Baby" didn't entirely agree with Bacon, who sought out more offbeat fare in the 1990s.

My gripes about Macs are almost entirely about OSX performance/reliability and command-line habitability: version over version, it almost never improves. Terrible keyboards are another thing entirely, Lenovo went through a bout of that with the X1. Either 90% of their units are defective or we're using our computers very differently. Intrusive admin software has been a problem in the past for sure - especially at Google - but I've bought dozens of these for home use as well. It bothered me when I quit the platform ages ago, and it is still bothering me now: little I care about has changed or improved. My verdict is: the hardware is usually GREAT but MacOS isn't. We've used them for work and for play, for software development and video editing and graphic design and media consumption. I gave her an M1 air this holiday season! We've had pros, airs, and iMacs in four or five different colors occupying our living spaces for fifteen or twenty years now. Between the two of us, and between home and work, we've bought or used probably 25-30 of these over the years. Interactive performance is much better, the docker-based workflows everyone's using are so much faster when they're native, and there's no mismatch between Darwin's BSD userland and the Ubuntu/CentOS you're probably using in prod. Reliability aside - and I realize that everyone values ergonomic factors differently - Linux is just a better choice in every regard for me and the kind of work that I do. ![]() I have to restart it once or twice a week. This post will teach you how to install HAKCHI and RETROARCH from SCRATCH! As it courses forward, it joins the subclavian vein to form the brachiocephalic (innominate) vein. Here the vein is most superficial, located only 1 to 1.5 cm below the skin surface in most patients. Caudal to the cricoid cartilage, the internal jugular vein can be found between the two heads of the sternocleidomastoid muscle at the base of the neck. As it travels towards the chest, it assumes an anterolateral position to the common carotid artery beneath the sternocleidomastoid muscle. It is contained within the carotid sheath and travels with the carotid artery and the vagus nerve. The internal jugular vein exits the skull base from the jugular foramen collecting blood from the sigmoid sinus. However, when ultrasound guidance is not feasible, CVLs may be placed using anatomical landmarks without ultrasound. Ultrasound guidance can benefit all approaches and is recommended for every CVL placement. The subclavian vein approach is at higher risk for pneumothorax than the internal jugular vein approach. The femoral veins are compressible sites and, as such, may be more appropriate for patients who are at high risk of bleeding. The right internal jugular and subclavian valves are the most direct paths to the right atrium via the superior vena cava. There are three possible sites for CVL placement in adult patients: namely, the internal jugular, femoral, and subclavian. This article will detail the anatomy of the site placement, indications and contraindications, equipment and personnel involved, technique, preparation, and associated complications. With ultrasound guidance, standardized techniques, new catheter designs, and central line care bundle, this procedure has become ubiquitous in the intensive care unit. Over the past decade, there has been tremendous improvement and reduced complications associated with central line placement procedures. According to epidemiologic data, 8% of hospitalized patients require central venous access, and more than 5 million central venous catheters are inserted in the United States annually. Central line placement is an essential skill, especially in critical care units. ![]() Now referred to as the Seldinger technique, this procedure allows the safe and reliable insertion of a central venous catheter in the large lumen central veins. Sven-Ivar Seldinger, in 1953 introduced the method to facilitate catheter placement into the central veins lumens. A central venous line (CVL) is a large-bore central venous catheter placed using a sterile technique (unless an urgent clinical scenario prevents sterile technique placement) in specific clinical procedures. ![]() Windows will snap when dragged to edges/corners of the screen. There's an option to have windows traverse across displays on subsequent left or right executions. So, if you repeatedly execute first third, it will cycle through thirds (first, center, last) and vice-versa with the last third.
